The publication of the Mining and Scientific Press was first produced in 1860 by George H. Winslow & Company. In 1864, the Press enlarged from about 8 pages to sixteen pages per issue. Volume 9 began the format enlarged again and had 64 columns.

In later years the Press was edited and compiled by T. A. Rickard. The Volumes offered here are bound in library cloth with two volumes per year. The first volume for each year contains issues from January through June for that year, while the second volume contains issues for the remainder of that year. The Mining and Scientific Press is important to Mining Historians as it reported all major events monthly as they occurred; events are listed by state, and townsite or mine. Each issue contains an index and articles about all facets of mining, both domestic and international. Canadian Province activities are reported immediately following U.S. State activities in each issue.

All cloth bindings and there contents are in very good condition.
